Heating, Air-conditioning & Refrigeration Distributors International reported on July 6 that member distributors saw sales decline 4.8% in May 2026 compared to the same month last year. HARDI attributed part of the decline to one fewer billing day in May this year. Sales would have been roughly flat with the same number of days. Despite the monthly dip, annual sales growth for the 12 months ending in May 2026 remained positive at 2.6%.

The soft May numbers at the start of cooling season suggest contractors may see continued weak demand and pricing pressure this summer.
